Artist Statement
The diversity and richness of my life experiences are the foundation of my artistic expression, revealed through the ever-present colour, vibrancy, and vivacity that define my work. Each painting is a reflection of the energy and emotion I draw from the world around me—an ongoing dialogue between memory, place, and imagination.
Driven by an innate curiosity and a love for experimentation, I explore a wide range of media and techniques. This progressive, open-minded approach allows me to continually evolve as an artist, resulting in a broad and dynamic portfolio. Whether I’m working in acrylics, mixed media, or exploring new materials, I embrace the creative process as a journey of discovery.
My subject matter spans from expressive landscapes and intimate still lifes to detailed studies of nature. Though my work moves across a few distinct styles, a strong visual thread connects them: bold use of colour, layered textures, and an emotive, intuitive response to the world.
Ultimately, my art is a celebration of life’s richness—rooted in experience, shaped by experimentation, and inspired by the beauty of the everyday.
Nature-Inspired Artistic Expression
My love of art dates back to an early transient life, which was spent as a forces child living in locations across Asia and Europe. The colourful vibrancy and richness of cultures can be seen impacting my work to this day.
Despite this passion for creativity, I chose a diverse career in the Metropolitan Police Force. Working within the community, in underprivileged areas of London.
For 7 years I ran the police cadet group, inspiring and mentoring young people. And was also involved in the William Morris Waltham Forest Art Trail which culminated in 3 viaducts regenerated and painted with Morris-inspired murals, forming an integral part of the trail to date.
Retirement has allowed me the wonderful opportunity to move up to the North Norfolk Coast and return to my first love of painting full time, carving a new career out for myself as an artist.
I am an active member of the Nova group of artists and cofounder of Take2 artist partnership, where I have most recently exhibited at the Crypt Gallery in the grounds of Norwich Cathedral. My work can be found in various galleries within Windsor and North Norfolk.
My passion for nature drives my contemporary artwork, showcasing colour and vibrancy.
